MIRI: Most people seem optimistic with the new Cabinet line-up.
Announced on Friday night by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, the Cabinet comprised 25 ministers, which included those from the Sabah-Sarawak bloc.
The New Sarawak Tribune managed to talk to some members of the public about the new Cabinet line-up.
Here are what they think about the new Cabinet.
Mohammad Aniq Ashwin, 22, a student
“Seeing the new unity government Cabinet line-up allows me to be optimistic and looking ahead to what they are able to offer. This is an unprecedented form of government in Malaysia history and we must be hopeful that it can steer the country and its people towards the right direction ahead of economic challenges that affect the whole world. I am personally satisfied that Sarawak representation in the Cabinet is formidable with having our first ever Sarawakian Deputy PM and four other ministers from GPS. I believe this government has a lot to offer.”
Spanki Steven, 26, Malaysian Youth Parliament member
We created a history, with the appointment of Fadillah as Deputy Prime Minister. It is a new start to revive Malaysia’s economy. Overall, the line -up could reboot our country economy into more competitive mode.
Andy Jong , 43, Batu Niah Lions Club president
Overall, it’s a good start for Malaysia under the new Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. I hope he will keep his words that he had promised during his election campaign, and be fair towards Sabah and Sarawak.
