KUCHING: Election has become an unpredictable situation especially since the Pakatan Harapan (PH) took over the federal government after ousting 61 years of Barisan Nasional rule in the 14th General Election (GE14) last year.
As the state election, due in 2021, looms, politicians from both political divides, appear to have differing views on the “Malaysia Baru” narratives of the PH government.
Tupong assemblyman Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman, when interviewed by New Sarawak Tribune yesterday said as always, their preparation is to ensure that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) will continue to rule Sarawak.
“The Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg has told us to work even harder after the last election.
“As much as we have confidence that the people have faith in GPS, we have to work hard in order to serve our constituents well. Our thrust is on serving the people,” says Fazzrudin.
Fazzrudin pointed out that the GPS youth will always continue with their programme throughout Sarawak in promoting its new logo and in bringing a new spirit in the fight for Sarawak rights.
“The PH federal government have gone back against a lot of the promises in their election manifesto. It shows that it’s not easy managing the nation.
“I’m sure they will come back with more promises, but the question would be, will the people be convinced with their promises?” he stressed.
“Sarawakians now are more matured and focussed. They understand that GPS will always fights for Sarawak and that the Semenanjung-based opposition parties in Sarawak are only following orders from their headquarters,” he said.
