BINTULU: A total of 37 outstanding students with Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and 23 with Sijil Pelajaran Tinggi Malaysia (STPM) in 2022 have received incentives and certificates of appreciation from Press Metal Bintulu Sdn Bhd.

The event took place at the Cenderawasih Hall, SMK Bintulu, yesterday.

During the ceremony, two students, Steward Ting Shi Yu from Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Bintulu, and Dorethy Nisha Taha (SMK Kidurong), were also selected as recipients of the Best Student Awards for SPM and STPM 2022, respectively.

In his speech, chief operating officer of Press Metal Bintulu Sdn Bhd, Choa Wei Keong, mentioned that this marked the fifth year of Press Metal Bintulu Sdn Bhd recognising outstanding students academically through the holding of the Excellent Student Awards for SPM and STPM 2022 in collaboration with the Bintulu District Education Office.

“Press Metal believes that education plays a crucial role in building a brighter future for our children. The commitment shown by all Bintulu schools in providing a conducive learning environment is commendable and should be acknowledged.

“It is important for us to demonstrate leadership in developing and nurturing academic abilities, values, and positive attitudes among students,” he said.

Furthermore, he stated that education also develops skills such as teamwork, distinguishing between right and wrong, and social responsibility to make Malaysia a better society.

Representing the Press Metal management, Choa expressed joy at the achievements of the students and pledged full support to continue this corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme to inject motivation, especially to students and the surrounding community in general.

He emphasised that the excellence achieved by the students was not solely the result of individual efforts but also the support of educators and parents.

“Therefore, Press Metal takes this opportunity to congratulate and applaud educators for their dedication in ensuring that these students acquire knowledge and instil in them the values that will shape their character in the future.

“This holistic excellence aligns with the programme’s objective of producing future leaders who are not only outstanding academically but also driven to succeed in all fields they venture into,” he added.
