KAPIT: More than 100 participants comprising representatives and head government departments and local community leaders attended a briefing on corruption at the State Office Complex at Jalan Bleteh here yesterday morning.

The two-day briefing, with the theme ‘Role Of MACC and Honesty Vs Integrity’, was held by the Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Sibu branch.

The briefing which covered topics such as ‘What Is Corruption’, Code Languages In Corruption’, ‘Corruption-Crime (MACC Act 2009)’, ‘Core Offences’, ‘Types And Forms Of Gratification’, Causes Of Corruption’, ‘Symptoms Of Corruption’, ‘The Effects Of Corruption To The Individual And Family’, and ‘Organisation, Economy and National Security’ was conducted by the State MACC Deputy Director (Operations), Zulhairy Zaidel.

After the briefing the participants and distinguished guests took their ‘Integrity Oath’ led by ASP Chew from Kapit Police Department.

Also present at the briefing were State MACC Director, Dato’ Badrul Shah Norman Senior Assistant Director of MACC Sibu branch, Jutim Nyagam, Kapit Resident, Joseph Belayong Punan, Kapit District Officer, Elvis Didit and Bukit Mabong District Officer, Douglas Pungga.
