Merdeka Fun Ride led by Layar State Assemblyman Gerald Rentap Jabu at Betong Sports Complex, yesterday.
BETONG: More than 170 cyclists participated in the 9.6-kilometre Layar Merdeka Fun Ride 2.0 held in conjunction with Layar Cycling Carnival (LCC) 2018 at Betong Sports Complex here, yesterday. Among the participants was Layar State Assemblyman, Gerald Rentap Jabu.
The ride led by Gerald started from Betong Sports Complex before heading to Layar Rural Transformation Centre (RTC), Betong District Council (MDB) office, Betong Sesco, Panglima Rentap Hall, Betong District Office, Betong Pier, Jungkal longhouse, Tanu longhouse, Rian Batang longhouse, Betong junction, Ulu Layar junction and finishing at Layar RTC.
The event was flagged-off by State Science Research Advisor, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Alfred Jabu Numpang who was accompanied by his wife, Tan Sri Dato’ Sri Empiang Jabu.
Rentap when met at the event said that although the cycling event covered only nine kilometres it was quite challenging with a few hilly roads. He also congratulated participants of this year’s Layar Merdeka Fun Ride and added that the event received overwhelming response as many came from other areas such as Spaoh, Debak and Pusa. Also present were Resident of Betong Division, Friday Belik and Betong District Officer, Sofhi Jebal.
