Over 1,800 residents in Simunjan received jabs

KUCHING: A total of 1,833 residents in Simunjan District have received their first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine during the National Immunisation Programme (NCIP) at Dewan Mesra Simunjan Vaccination Centre (PPV).

Simunjan district health officer, Dr Joshua Peterson Legi who is also the chief coordinator of Dewan Mesra Simunjan PPV said the villagers were vaccinated over three days from June 14.

“Last Wednesday, 600 recipients were immunised at Dewan Mesra Simunjan PPV, bringing the total number of vaccine recipients here to 1,833 since June 14,” he said.

Dr Joshua said the immunisation programme in Simunjan was conducted simultaneously at three PPVs, namely Dewan Mesra Simunjan PPV, RTC Munggu Lalang PPV and Dewan Pembangunan Sebuyau PPV.

 “All recipients, including the elderly and high-risk groups and other visitors at the PPV complied with the instructions given by health workers and practised standard operating procedures (SOPs) throughout the implementation of the programme,”  he said.
