MUKAH: Some 222 Bidar Lukut boats are competing in the Bidar Lukut race in conjunction with the Mukah Kaul Festival.
The competition, organised by the Melanau Mukah Association and Tellian Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth, began on Friday (April 28) and runs until Sunday (April 30).
Participants from Dalat, Oya, Mukah and Balingian are slugging it out to earn the right to be crowned Raja Kala Dana Kaul Mukah, and the attractive cash prizes and trophies.
On Saturday (April 29), a Seraheng workshop will be held at the Mukah Kaul site at 2.30pm.
The workshop is organised by the Mukah District Office and its purpose is to share the knowledge of Melanau costumes and weaving skills.
On the other hand, the Mukah Kaul photography competition organised by My Studio Mukah, Mukah Youth Transformation and Innovation Centre and Melanau Mukah Association, held from March 11 until April 29, offers RM500 to the winner, RM300 to the runner-up, RM200 to the third place and consolation prize of RM50 to four winners along with certificates and MYTIC goodies.
