KUCHING: More than 200 dogs were vaccinated with anti-rabies vaccine during an anti-rabies vaccination programme held at Kampung Semaba Community Hall, Jalan Kpg Semaba near here, yesterday. A veter inar ian f rom the Department of Veterinary Services Sarawak, Dr Tay Lee Huay as the person in charge of the event said that the number of dogs coming for the anti-rabies vaccination was better than expected.

“By 11am this morning about 200 dogs have been vaccinated and now the number has increased,” Dr Tay said when met by reporters yesterday. She added that there were dogs getting vaccinated for the first time and some for the second time since the mass anti-rabies vaccination programme started.

“It is good to see the large crowd today because dog owners must bring their dogs for the antirabies vaccination programme or else they can be issued with summons based on the Anti- Rabies Vaccination Order under Section 40(1) of the Veterinary Public Health Ordinance,1999,” she pointed out.
