KUCHING: More than 200 dogs received anti-rabies vaccination during the mass vaccination in Taman Malihah multipurpose hall at Matang here yesterday.

Person in charge of the event Senior Assistant Officer of the State Veterinary Services Department Ahtien Ijon Savo said it was the second vaccination programme in Taman Malihah.

“This is one of those areas with positive samples of rabies and we hope more owners will  bring their dogs for vaccination.

“Today, there are dogs getting vaccinations for the first time and second time,” she said when met during the programme.

Ahtien also said last year, an awareness talk on rabies was also held by the department and Health Department for residents in Taman Malihah and nearby areas.

“After the vaccinations, the dog owners must always keep their dogs inside their house compounds.

“If you still see stray dogs that look sick, it is advisable to call the council for further action,” she added.
