SONG: 240 people, consisting of senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and those with chronic illnesses, have received their Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine at the Rumah Rehat Kerajaan Song vaccination centre here.
Song Health Clinic senior assistant medical officer Salin Guya said that 140 vaccine doses were administered today whereas 100 more doses would be administered tomorrow (May 8), adding that Phase 2 of the Covid-19 vaccination programme here would take place over these two days.
One of the vaccine recipients, Pemanca Toh Tze Hua, 60, said he was very happy to be selected as one of the recipients of the Phase 2 vaccines today.
“I hope the public will not hesitate to receive the Covid-19 vaccine and fully support the implementation of the national Covid-19 immunisation programme in order to curb the spread of the virus, which is a growing concern.”
Meanwhile, Pemanca Jamit Untam, 70, said the programme was the best step in breaking the chain of Covid-19 transmissions, which was increasing in the area.
“I urge those who have not yet registered for the vaccine yet to do so immediately for the sake of the health of themselves, their family, and community,” said Jamit, who was also one of the vaccine recipients on Friday.
Overall, Phase 2 of the national Covid-19 immunisation programme in Song District received a very encouraging response and was carried out in stages according to the vaccine supply received.
