BALINGIAN: More than 200 participants took part in the Chung Hua Balingian Fun Run, organised by the Balingian Sub-District to coincide with the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang programme.
The event’s theme, “Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan Penuhi Harapan”, aligns with the themes for National Day and Malaysia Day this year. The theme underscores the determination and commitment of leaders, as well as the unity of the nation, in striving for a peaceful and prosperous future.
Balingian Sub-District officer Dominic Ahjun inaugurated the opening ceremony of the Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang, and he stressed the importance of unity for the progress and wellbeing of the people.
He encouraged the public to show their patriotism by displaying the Malaysian flag, Jalur Gemilang, on their homes, premises, offices, and business buildings.
Dominic highlighted the achievements of past leaders and their efforts in achieving independence and encouraged the current generation to continue the legacy of development rooted in love for the country.
Meanwhile, Balingian Sub-District information officer Matsukarmi Suani pointed out the significance of the celebration as an opportunity to enhance the community’s appreciation for the meaning of independence and patriotism.
He stressed the importance of instilling a sense of pride and love for the nation among the post-independence generation.
