KUCHING: More than 2,000 people have to date benefitted from the One Community One RTD programme (Program Satu Komuniti Satu JPJ (SKSJ) implemented by Sarawak Road Transport Department (RTD).

Director of Sarawak Road Transport Department, Mohd Shafiq Abdullah disclosed that to date the programme had only been carried out in four locations in Sarawak namely Asajaya (more than 600 participants), Limbang (more than 1,000 participants), Debak (about 1,000 participants) and Serembu about 500 participants.

He added that the programme was supposed to be implemented in seven locations this year but have to be reviewed due to the change in government.

“So for now we will postpone all community-related programmes except programmes such as JPJ Bersama Anda & Program Pengurangan Kompaun dan Saman and others. We will continue but it will be done in the office only,” he told the media at a Gawai and Raya gathering (Majlis Ramah Tamah Gawai dan Hari Raya Aidilfitri) at Sarawak RTD Headquarters at 11th Mile Kuching-Serian Road near here, yesterday.

“For this SKSJ programme we are in the midst of improving it. If there is any new development, we will inform but for the time being all the existing programmes will continue except for the new programmes which we will put on hold,” he said.

Mohd Shafiq added that RTD would continue to cooperate with federal and state agencies in providing excellent services.

“It is hoped that Sarawak RTD staffs will continue to serve their clients with integrity and uphold the good image of the department,” he said.

Among the special guests at the event were Federal State Secretary Dato Haji Mansur bin Man, heads of federal agencies such as Audit Department, National Registration Department, Department of Road Safety, Commercial Vehicle Licencing Board (LPKP), Puspakom, Police and other agencies.

Meanwhile, Federal State Secretary Datuk Mansur Man assured that the Federal government would continue to cooperate with the State government even though there is a change of government at the Federal level recently.

“We will from time to time refer to Putrajaya in our cooperation with the State government,” he said.
