MIRI: From May 24 to 27, 2,371 business premises were inspected during the Covid-19 new norm monitoring operation.
Sarawak Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin, who is also minister in charge of Miri Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC), said the operation was conducted by the Miri City Council (MCC) enforcement section.
Of the total number, 112 were supermarkets, 1,955 food courts, 52 hawker centres, 171 other business premises, as well as 81 hawkers.
He said MCC issued six compounds under the Protection of Public Health Ordinance, 1990 (PPHO).
“On May 24, a compound was issued to Good Fate Enterprise for not providing log books for customers,” he said on Friday (May 28).
“On May 25, two compounds were issued to two business premises, namely Puma Sera Restaurant and Aroi Mak Cuisine, for not wearing mask in public.”
Apart from that, compounds were issued to Scorpio Auto Car Accessories, Kopitiam Kingdom Sdn Bhd (JJ Cafe) and a business owner for operating past the time limit, on May 27.
Meanwhile, the Miri Division Health Office issued seven compounds from May 1 to 27.
“One was issued to a school principal in the Long Jegan Cluster, another to an officer from the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission office, and two compounds were given to the Tuai Rumah and a funeral service organiser at Rh Liba in Subis.
“Another one was issued for a birthday party in the Jalan Lilin Cluster, a compound was given to a committee chairman of Masjid al-Firdaus in the Jalan Limbang Miri Cluster, and in the Jalan Dato Permaisuri, one was compounded for organising social gathering activities.”
