MAKKAH: More than half of the 31,600 Malaysian haj pilgrims for the 1445H/2024 season have completed the ‘nafar awwal’, which involves stoning the jamarat on two out of the three tasyrik days.
Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Dr. Mohd Na’im Mokhtar, said the remaining pilgrims will undertake ‘nafar thani’, which entails the stoning ritual across all three tasyrik days until tomorrow, June 19 (13th Zulhijjah).
“Alhamdulillah, today, the majority of Malaysian pilgrims have completed the nafar awwal and they will now begin their journey to Makkah by bus to make arrangements for their return, with the first flight scheduled for June 24,” he told a press conference here.
He added that the stoning process for all pilgrims, particularly those from Malaysia, has been smooth without any issues so far.
The tasyrik days in Islamic terminology refer to the 11th, 12th and 13th days of Zulhijjah in the Islamic Hijri calendar.
During these days, Muslims performing haj complete the ritual of stoning at the three jamarat (walls or formerly pillars) Jamratul Sughra, Jamratul Wusta and Jamratul Qubra, in addition to Jamratul Qubra on the 10th of Zulhijjah.
It is the sixth obligatory acts of the haj pilgrimage after spending the night in Mina on 11th, 12th, and 13th of Zulhijjah
All 31,600 Malaysian pilgrims had earlier journeyed to Arafah in phases, starting from the morning of 8th Zulhijjah 1445H, or June 14 to observe the wukuf (standing in vigil) at Arafah, which marks the climax of haj, on June 15 or 9th Zulhijjah. – BERNAMA
