BAU: The Siniawan Country Music Festival and Juh Merami E-Money attracted over 5,000 attendees on Saturday night.

Deputy Minister of Creative Industries and Performing Arts, Datuk Snowdan Lawan, said that the enthusiasm from music lovers has been consistent, and every year brings its own unique flair.

“I was informed that roughly 3,000 visitors attended the festival on its opening night (October 6), and the response has been phenomenal. For tonight (October 7), we anticipate between 5,000 to 6,000 attendees, with many shuttling between the venue throughout the day and evening,” he told reporters at the Siniawan Village Music Festival and Juh Merami E-Duit organised by Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) at Pasar Lama Utama Festa Siniawan.

What sets this music festival apart is that the organisers stage it in an old town, transforming the ambiance to resemble a cowboy town. This location is quite distinctive, he added.

He thanked Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh for ensuring the continuity and success of the music event year after year.

“Visitors are treated to many activities, especially a variety of food options. We have attendees from overseas even. Our ministry is committed to supporting such events, ensuring activities are organised in every district or section throughout Sarawak,” he added.

On future planning, he said, “I believe Miro may have plans to further develop this area and beyond. While the final decision rests with him, we will undoubtedly support future initiatives and activities. The ministry has already contributed RM100,000 to this year’s event. Depending on the scale and requirements of future programmes, we might consider increasing our allocations.”
