KUCHING: The ever popular Folk Dance event which attracts over 600 local and foreign participants will be held on August 5, 2018 starting at 6pm at the State Hockey Stadium.
The event is organised by Kuching South City Council (MBKS) in conjunction with the upcoming Kuching Festival 2018.
According to the Organising Chairperson Kho Teck Wan, there would be a total of 607 participants comprising 23 local teams and 13 invited teams from Sabah, Singapore, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
“The Folk Dance aims to promote greater understanding and cultivate goodwill among the people through healthy exercise which is in tandem with this year’s Kuching Festival theme of ‘Celebrating in Togetherness’,” she said during a press conference at MBKS building here yesterday.
Kho also expressed her appreciation to all participants for making the event interesting and exciting for all.
“Members of the public are cordially invited to come to the State Hockey Stadium to join the crowd to witness the event,” she urged.
The event will be officiated by the Minister for Local Government and Housing, Datuk Dr Sim Kui Hian.
