KUCHING: A total of 7,701 police personnel will be on duty throughout the 15th general election (GE15) in Sarawak.
Sarawak Commissioner of Police, Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri said duties would be divided into five phases in Ops PRU.
“There will be five phases in Ops PRU. The first phase during the nomination day, 3,667 police personnel will be stationed at every nomination station.
“The second phase, during the campaigning period of two weeks, 2,979 personnel will be present.
“3,417 police personnel will be present at early voting stations in phase three and on polling day on Nov 19, all 7,701 personnel will be on standby at the respective polling stations.”
He said this after the flag-off of Human Resource Assistance for Senior Police Officers in conjunction with the GE15 at the Sarawak Police Contingent headquarters on Friday (Nov 4).
Azman reminded political parties and candidates not to raise provocative issues or disturb public order.
He assured that police would carry out their duties to ensure that GE15 in Sarawak runs smoothly.
