ASAJAYA: The Sarawak government has approved over RM150 million for the second phase of the Sungai Tambirat Embankment project.
Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the project extends 1.2 kilometres, linking phase one’s river bank to Kampung Tambirat’s end.
“The project, approved by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, aims to enhance the area with business spaces and footpaths, benefiting locals and attracting tourists,” said Abdul Karim during the Aspirasi Serumpun Seni Budaya Melayu’s closing ceremony at Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) Tambirat Hawker Centre recently.
He highlighted the ongoing first phase, costing over RM20 million, including a pavilion to host events like the Tambirat Regatta.
“This development is crucial for promoting Samarahan and Asajaya, leveraging Kampung Tambirat’s strategic location and rich agricultural and marine products,” he added.
