KUCHING: MAGGI is kicking off the festive Gawai season with its ‘Jom Masak & Menang Bersama’ contest, celebrating the vibrant culinary traditions of Sarawakian cooks.

Offering over RM150,000 in prizes, including a brand-new Isuzu D-Max, household electronics, and cash prizes, MAGGI aims to bring families and communities together through this exciting initiative.

Running from May 1 to June 30, the contest invites Sarawakian to participate by purchasing RM8 worth of MAGGI products in a single receipt.

Business Executive Officer of MAGGI, Malaysia and Singapore Ivy Tan expressed the brand’s deep connection to this celebration and the joy of being part of it.

“As with so many of our Malaysian celebrations, food is at the heart of Gawai.

“For many years, MAGGI has been privileged to share in the joy of these festivities, and to uplift the underserved communities in Sarawak through this campaign,” she said in a statement.

For every contest entry, MAGGI will donate 10 sen to a local non-government organisation (NGOs) namely Helping Hands Penan Berhad, an NGO that supports indigenous communities and women in need, providing them with opportunities for income generation through cooking and crafting.

MAGGI’s support will contribute to creating sustainable solutions for the women weavers and educational advancements among these communities.

Director of Helping Hands Penan Berhad Violette Tan thanked MAGGI for their support and partnership.

“MAGGI has shown tremendous generosity and support by not only donating but also purchasing our crafts in bulk.

“The funds raised are directed towards our initiatives for sustainable solutions. MAGGI products offer a cost-effective option that the Penan community relies on for their sustenance.

“Thanks to MAGGI’s assistance, we do more than just prepare meals; we are creating recipes for empowerment,” she said.

In addition to the contest and charitable contributions, MAGGI aims to inspire both novice and professional cooks with a curated collection of recipes inspired by the unique flavors of Sarawak, incorporating household favoirite MAGGI products.

These recipes, such as Nasi Goreng Pucuk Daun Ubi, Sambal Terung Dayak Tunu,and Umai Udang Asam Laksa aim to bring a touch of familiarity and warmth to every dining table.
