SIBU: A voluntary group here which embarked on a five-year plan to neuter pets has received a large number of requests from pet owners outside Sibu.
Person-in-charge, Tony Wong told reporters that the group was unable to accede to their requests.
“We’ve received calls requesting for our service from as far as Bintulu, Mukah, Belawai and Sarikei. But we can’t meet all the requests as we can’t go too far to provide the service,” he explained.
Tony explained that they had neuter service quota for seven months a year namely, in January, March, May, July, September, October and December.
“The service quota has been filled. In fact, we’ve accepted many outside the quota,” he pointed out.
He said it was nonetheless heartening to note that there had been an increase in awareness among pet owners to neuter their pets to control population.
Tony, therefore, appealed to the public for financial support and the authority to come up with a long term programme.
