KUCHING: Perlis Menteri Besar Mohd Shukri Ramli has commended Sarawak for its success in the agriculture sector, especially for its accomplishments in paddy cultivation projects.

Stating that he admired the efforts undertaken by the Sarawak government, he is determined to make Perlis on par with the region.

“I am happy to see Sarawak’s success in paddy cultivation and its high rice yields. Congratulations to the Sarawak government.

“I hope the relationship between Perlis and Sarawak can be strengthened. Although the size of our states differs greatly, we are determined to make Perlis comparable to Sarawak,” he said.

He said this after paying a courtesy visit to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg at Wisma Bapa Malaysia here on Friday.

Minister of Home Affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, said the report covers the progress and achievements of the Special Task Force Unit Committee established by the Ministry in collaboration with the Sarawak government, specifically to address the issue.

“KDN and the Sarawak government have set up the Special Task Force Unit Committee, co-chaired by the Premier of Sarawak and myself. The committee operates on two levels: the main committee and a subcommittee, which also includes the Minister of Women, Childhood and Community Well-being Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.

“We have been operational since last year, and today I presented the results, detailing the identity documents that have been received, the number currently being processed, and the number of applications still pending,” he said.

He also mentioned that the data collected by the Sarawak government provides clear guidance on the locations and needs of remote areas, allowing the management of identity document applications to be carried out more systematically.

“The Sarawak government provides significant logistical support. If we need a helicopter, they will provide one to transport us to the location.

“As a law-abiding agency, our commitment is to ensure that the application process is conducted with legitimacy and the appropriate authority in accordance with the laws in force,” he added.
