KOTA SAMARAHAN: Muara Tuang Service Centre recently collaborated with the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Kampung Baru Hulu, Kampung Baru Tengah and Kampung Baru Hilir to build a house for a poor and aged couple.
Muara Tuang assemblyman Datuk Idris Buang said the villagers helped to construct the house, dubbed Teratak Impian Pak Samad (Pak Samad’s dream house), to replace his severely dilapidated house.
Idris presented the keys to the new house to Samat Bujang (Pak Samad) at Kampung Baru Hilir, here last Saturday. Pak Samad now lives alone since his wife, Dayang Sauti Awang Noor passed away recently.
The house costs about RM46,000.
“We also provide home appliances as well as furniture for Pak Samad,” Idris said while assuring that he remained committed to serving and attending to the underprivileged people in his constituency.
“We should not let them live that way in this modern world. When I received news about the situation, I talked to the committee at the service centre and help was sent immediately.
“We built the house because we want to help Pak Samad and his family escape from living in poverty,” he said.
Despite the hardships faced by Idris and his team, he said he was happy with the success of the construction of Teratak Impian Pak Samad.
He revealed that Pak Samad’s wife had passed away when the service centre was putting in the final touches to the house, days before it was completed.
“When the house was being built, Pak Samad’s late wife would often come and speak to the staff to convey her wishes such as the position of the windows in the house which now becomes a lasting memory of her in every corner of the house.
“Therefore, this Teratak Impian Pak Samad will also be iconic in the Muara Tuang area particularly due to the house’s ‘English Cottage’ design and feel,” he added.
The house was constructed in 45 days and was completed on December 10.
