SRI AMAN: A foreign man sustained minor injuries after leaping from a burning two-storey house in Kampung Sabu last night (Apr 30).

The 46-year-old Pakistani made a daring escape from the upper floor of the residence, about three metres high, in a bid to save himself.

Following the incident, the injured victim was taken to Sri Aman Hospital by his friend for further treatment.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said that firefighters from Sri Aman station were dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at 11.13pm.

Firefighters extinguish the late-night fire involving a two-storey house in Kampung Sabu.

Upon arrival, they found that the fire had ravaged the house and destroyed a motorcycle parked nearby. The extinguishing deed was performed using water sourced from a nearby fire hydrant.

It was reported that the residence was rented by three Pakistani men, including the injured victim. Two of them, aged 30 and 31, managed to evacuate the house unscathed.

Once the situation was deemed safe and there was no risk of reignition, the team ended the operation at 1.40am.

The cause of the fire and losses incurred is still under investigation.
