KUCHING: The Pan Borneo Highway project in Sarawak is now 99.5 per cent complete.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the project is expected to be fully completed by the end of this year.

According to him, the highway is one of the priorities given by the Sarawak government, including several other large-scale infrastructure developments.

“The Sarawak government has given priority to the development of large-scale infrastructure such as the Coastal Road Network, the Second Trunk Road Project and the Sabah-Sarawak Link Road.

“In addition, we also prioritise the development of the Water Grid Project, the Rural Electricity Scheme and the tower telecommunications network,” he said.

He said this in his speech read by Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas during the launching of the 2024 Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) Karnival Celik Kewangan (KCK) at Vivacity Megamall here Saturday.

Abang Johari stated that 4G internet and communication coverage in populated areas in the state has reached 89.22 per cent.
