KUCHING: Pantai Damai’s rural transformation projects (RTPs) will be developed aggressively after being postponed due to the movement control order (MCO).
Utilities Assistant Minister (Water Supply) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said the projects had been underway since the end of last year, but were stopped three months ago.
He said the projects involved a drainage system at Kampung Gersik to replace the old drain, which is no longer in working condition, affecting a few houses in the village.
“Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) will develop the project at a cost of RM160,000. Another project in Kampung Gersik will involve the construction of a small concrete bridge which costs RM100,000,” he told reporters on Thursday.
Dr Abdul Rahman, who is also Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Islamic Affairs & DBKU), said among the projects was the construction of an access road to the Bandar Baru Samariang multipurpose hall, which costs RM100,000.
“The electrical wiring at this multipurpose hall will also be upgraded as it is a centre for the community to play sports and convene community activities,” he said.
He said the Taman Samariang Aman multipurpose hall, built at a cost of RM500,000, had been completed fully and would be handed over to the Samariang Aman village safety and development committee (JKKK) soon.
“This hall is quite special as it is built using the latest design and is different from other multipurpose or community halls,” he said.
He added that the Samariang Aman football field would also be upgraded.
Dr Abdul Rahman advised community leaders to continue maintaining the completed RTPs for the long-term benefit of their community.
