KUCHING: Former national pride Suhaili Laiman is still continuing his efforts to bring out a successor in the para sport of badminton in the state.

Suhaili, who is also chief coach of Para Sukma Sarawak Badminton Association, said he was confident his players could bring home at least two gold medals in the upcoming Malaysia Games (Sukma).

“I have high hopes on Ashley (Irenaeus Jack) and Chung (Hong Hsin) to get at least a silver medal for their category.

“For Sukma, I believe we can bring home two gold medals at least. It could be more but two gold medals are already enough,” he told reporters on Sunday (Jan 16) during a friendly match between Sarawak Badminton Association (PBPNS)  and Sarawak National Registration Department (JPN).

The national representative of 13 years has an unbeaten record in the double category. In all the paralympic competitions Suhaili has ever participated in, he managed to win a gold medal in every single match.
