KUCHING: Sarawak’s Para contingent continued its dominant performance at the Para SUKMA 2024, securing six gold medals in athletics events on Tuesday.

In the morning sessions, Jap Soon Hing claimed the first gold of the day in the shot put Men F55 (4 kg category).

Noor Kalsim Fadil and Jap Soon Hung followed suit with gold medals in their respective women’s and men’s shot put events.

Jennyla Kueh, Richard Ganie James Sigan, and Mohd Farissan Jasnal also contributed gold medals in their respective javelin and long jump events.

Additionally, Siti Nurmala Brahim, Siti Zubaidah Puini, and Jamal Nasir Zulkiplis secured bronze medals in their respective events.

As of 1 pm, Sarawak maintained its lead in the medal tally with 23 gold, 14 silver, and 16 bronze medals.

Sabah followed in second place with 19 gold, 14 silver, and 10 bronze, while Kelantan ranked third with eight gold, five silver, and six bronze medals.

Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah was on hand to present medals to the athletes.
