KUCHING: The para-table tennis team are aiming for three gold medals at the upcoming Para (SUKMA) Malaysia Games.
Minister of Women, Early Childhood, and Community Wellbeing Development Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah said the para-table tennis event features nine high-quality athletes.
“They are exceptional athletes. Today (Sept 19) marks the last day of training, after which they will transition to light workouts to prevent injuries,” she told reporters at the Extreme Table Tennis Professional Centre on Thursday (Sept 19).
Fatimah stressed the importance of the players being in peak physical condition and expressed her hope for an injury-free performance at the upcoming Games.
“I hope the players can secure gold medals in the upcoming table tennis events,” she added.
She urged the team to look ahead and prepare for the next Para (SUKMA) Malaysia Games following this event.
“Once we finish the 21st edition of Para SUKMA, we should also start preparing the athletes for the next Games.
“That’s how we want to ensure a strong future for them, so I wish them all the best,” she said
The nine athletes competing in the para-table tennis event are Brayden Huang, Goh Kuong Tiong, Simon Toh, Stanley Ling, Bivyana Ujai, Chow Mei Hsia, Gloria Gracia Wong, Kuok Zhi Chen, and Sim Siew Ling.
