KUCHING: With the school holiday ending soon, parents with school-going children are busy preparing for school necessities ahead of the new school year.

For 29-year-old Amyira Yusof, the housewife said the preparation for her children’s school necessities is at fifty per cent.

“My two sons will be entering Primary 1 and kindergarten respectively this year. Preparation is at fifty per cent as items such as shoes, school uniforms and stationeries are yet to be bought.

“Therefore, with the Back to School voucher, it will be able to help me in terms of reducing the cost of expenses for their preparation,” she told New Sarawak Tribune, yesterday (March 12).

Meanwhile, 45-year-old Dolhan Bek, who is a father of two, also expressed similar views as Amyira, in which the voucher will help to ease the parents’ burden in buying their children’s school supplies.

His children will be entering Form 2 and Primary 2 this upcoming academic session.

“Therefore, with the voucher, it helps lighten the burden to some extent, especially with the rising price of goods.

“As I have two school-going children, the cost is quite high, especially with the price of school uniforms now being costly,” she explained.

A survey by New Sarawak Tribune at a hypermarket here found that school uniforms are sold at a price ranging from RM20 to RM40.

The academic calendar for the 2023/2024 school session will run from March 20 this year to March 10, 2024.
