PARIS: The Paris 2024 Olympics Main Press Centre (MPC) is operating as usual, catering workspace and services for journalists from all around the world.
Based on observations, the MPC located at the Palais des Congres in Porte Maillot, was fully in operation with usual security protocol.
Security personnel were also seen patrolling around the MPC.
However, the number of media personnel is relatively less compared to the past few days, as they get busy covering the competitions, which started officially on Saturday after a grand opening ceremony a day before.
Earlier, several media outlets, including Anadolu Agency, reported that the French police temporarily closed the area around the media centre Saturday due an “explosion risk” but no official statement from the organisers as of Sunday evening.
Journalists and citizens were reportedly evacuated, while the cause of the risk was not disclosed.
On the morning of the opening ceremony, unknown individuals carried out arson attacks on several facilities of the French high-speed rail network, affecting around 800,000 people. – BERNAMA
