KUCHING: Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) said it was prepared to solve the problems of owners of native customary rights (NCR) land in the state.
Party president Voon Lee Shan said this is because he had grave doubt that Malayan political parties could protect the land under that category.
“Many pieces of land had been alienated to the federal government. If not developed or left idle, shouldn’t these lands be returned to the state government?
“Some land alienated by the state government to outsiders were said to have encroached onto NCR lands. Could Malayan parties like DAP, PAS, Amanah, Bersatu and PKR protect these lands?” said Voon in a statement on Monday.
He went on to say that these parties had been in the state for ages and until now have not fought for NCR land owners, and if NCR land had been really protected there would be no more fighting over it in court today.
“Is there any NCR land that was alleged to have been wrongly alienated to Malayan entities and big local companies been returned to the owners? So far, I have not found any.
“I have also never heard how DAP and PKR would solve issues of NCR land that had been alienated to Malayans and big local companies,” he said.
He said NCR land owners had always been fighting a difficult battle in and outside the court and had spent much time and money on the matter.
