KUCHING: The road ahead for Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) is shining brightly, said political veteran Datuk Peter Minos.

With the recent electoral success and with the top leadership showing vision, ability, initiative and determination, he said one cannot help but say that PBB will continue on to be successful.

“It  will lead Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), Sarawak and its people well.

“Sarawak, in turn, will see more economic, social development and progress.

“That is at least how I see the shape of things ahead for PBB and GPS, that PBB leads,” he said in a statement yesterday.

Minos pointed out that Sarawak, if possible, must also be economically equal to Malaya and Sabah and in all other aspects of life.

He emphasised that there also must be both political and economic justice, working in tandem.

“However, there will inevitably be continued challenges to be faced such as recovering from the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The pandemic has a very heavy toll on everyone, but, thanks to the government, life is getting more and more normal by the day. And more stable,” he said.

He noted that another challenge for PBB and GPS is the time and effort needed in developing and bettering the economic sector.

“The Premier of Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg’s big push on

new industries such as hydrogen, solar, green energy, water based, health products and so many other things will definitely bear fruit but a lot of grit and focus are needed on top of the planning and strategies, including the people’s cooperation and contribution.

“Lastly, the struggle to get more money from Petronas as well as from the Federal government must go on.

“Sarawak must and will get more from its own oil and gas resources because it is not enough that Sarawak is equal constitutionally to Malaya and Sabah,” he said.
