SIBU: A total of 38 individuals were detained during a raid at an entertainment premises at Jalan Pahlawan here in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Sibu district police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said those detained comprised 24 men and 14 women, including the owner of the entertainment centre.
He noted that the entertainment centre was operating without a valid licence during the movement control order implemented nationwide.
Stanley said the raiding team was led by the Head of Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department Sibu IPD, DSP Ariffin Bahar at 1.15am.
“During the raid, all the party goers including the owner, were entertaining themselves without being aware of the police presence,” he said.
The owner of the premises was slapped with a RM10,000 compound, while the 37 customers were each compounded RM2,000 under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases, 2021 Regulations.
