SIBU: The fire victims of Rumah Jelian Nayor and Rumah Langi Ambau longhouses at Pasai Siong Tengah here heaved a sigh of relief after receiving much needed assistance from their community leader Penghulu Richard Ampi.
The donations, in the form of food and beverages (50 boxes of instant noodles and 20 bottles of drinking water), were handed over to the fire victims by Richard today.
According to Richard, he sympathised with the plight of more than 300 residents of the two longhouses, which was destroyed in a fire last Monday (Oct 19).
“As a community leader, I feel very sad and need to help them as much as I could to ease their burden.
“We also welcome all parties who wish to extend their support by donating to the victims involved,” said Richard, who hails from Lubok Pelaie.
The fire last Monday (Oct 19) was believed to have started from Rumah Jelian Nayor (28 doors) before it spread to Rumah Langi Ambau (21 doors), which was located three metres away.
