SIMANGGANG: The new Simanggang Pasar Tamu at Jalan Astana Pasar Tamu here is now a focal point for locals after its opening to the public last July 30.
Sri Aman Information Department said the opening of the market at Jalan Astana was originally scheduled for mid-August.
“However, the local fruiting season has prompted the pasar tamu to open early.
“The pasar tamu will be able to accommodate hawkers who do not have places to operate their respective businesses. It will provide convenience and comfort to the residents of Simanggang Division,” the Information Department said in the statement.
In line with phase three of National Recovery Plan (NRP), the Sri Aman District Council (MDSA) ensured all standard operating procedures (SOPs) were complied with.
“Stricter SOPs including health screenings and registering before entering were implemented for the hawkers and visitors.
“The hawkers were charged RM5 per lot to ensure hygiene and prevent the further spread of Covid-19,” it added.
The pasar tamu offers a variety of jungle products, local fruits, and vegetables for sale to visitors from 8am to 11am for three days starting on Friday.
