KUCHING: “Make sure the spirit to protect and develop your villages is passed down to the younger generation, especially those between 18 and 21 years old.”

This is the advice of Political Secretary to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law), Datuk Seri Syed Hamzah Syed Paie Al-Yahya to the committee members of Surau Darul Mutaqqim Kampung Sourabaya Hulu.

He said such spirit should be inculcated among the young to ensure development in the future.

“Committee members in the village need to ensure that young people participate in the programmes to strengthen ties.

“We should not just sit quietly at home but go out and meet the people to strengthen our friendships,” he said while speaking at the MRP cheque presentation programme at Surau Darul Mutaqqim Kampung Sourabaya Hulu on Thursday.

The government, he added, had given the opportunity to young people to form a government together because it believed that with good guidance, youth could contribute to the development of the country.

Hamzah also reminded the villagers to inform the government of their needs because it was quite difficult for assemblymen or leaders to visit them every day.

He later also presented a contribution of RM73,000 to nine non -governmental organisations (NGOs) at Surau Darul Mutaqqim Kampung Sourabaya Hulu.
