MIRI: Two vehicles collided while one took a plunge into a ravine along the Pan Borneo Road with its passenger cheating death yesterday (Aug 2).
According to reports, the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received a call at 5.49pm stating that the accident involved two vehicles, a Toyota Land Cruiser and a Toyota Hilux.
Upon arrival, the fire department found that civilians had already extracted all the victims except for one, who remained in the ravine.
Firefighters used a stretcher to rescue the remaining victim from the Toyota Land Cruiser and transported them to Miri Hospital using an ambulance and the Emergency Medical Response Services (EMRS).
The operation concluded at 7:05 PM.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a young male driver was injured in a single-car accident late Friday night near KFC on Jalan Tanjung Lobang.
Bomba reported that the incident occurred at 11.22pm prompting a response from the Miri Sentral Fire and Rescue team to the scene.
Upon arrival, firefighters find a grey Proton Saga that had collided with a tree, utilising the S.A.V.E.R (Stabilise, Assess, Victim care, Extrication, and Removal) concept, the firefighters quickly assessed the situation and proceeded to extract the injured driver using a spine board and cervical collar.
The victim was then handed over to the ambulance team for further medical attention.
