KUCHING: A Good Samaritan’s attempt to rescue a driver trapped in his car went awry when he was knocked down by a passing vehicle.

The incident happened around 2 this morning at Jalan Song here when the 22-year-old man who was passing by saw a Perodua Myvi crash into a tree and rushed to help the victim.

Unfortunately for him, he was knocked down by a passing car. The incident left him with injuries to his legs.

A spokesman for the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) said firemen from Tabuan Jaya and Padungan stations were despatched to the scene after being alerted to the accident at 2.15 am.

On arrival, the team promptly rescued the 36-year-old Myvi driver. The extent of his injuries is not known.

The Bomba personnel provided initial treatment to the injured victims at the scene before they were taken to the hospital for treatment.
