KUCHING: A man escaped serious injuries when the compact car he was driving collided with a lorry on Jalan Temudok, Sri Aman early yesterday morning.
State Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Supt Alexson Naga Chabu said the 26-year-old was believed to have been on his way from the town to Kampung Entulang when he entered the opposite lane and collided with an on-coming lorry at 1.55am.
“The victim was pinned in the driver’s seat and had to be extricated by passers-by,” Alexson said, adding he was rushed to the Sri Aman Hospital shortly after that.
He further said the case is being investigated under LN166/59 Rule 10 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959.
Meanwhile, a spokesperson from Bomba said firefighters from Sri Aman fire station were rushed to the scene after they received a distress call from the hospital at 2.05am, seeking assistance to free the victim.
But by the time the rescuers arrived, the victim was already freed and given early medical treatment.
The firefighters, however, proceeded to clear the site until 3.17am.
