Patagonia is reconsidering its relationship with Wall Street. The outdoors brand, whose co-branded corporate fleece vests are practically a wardrobe staple for many finance and tech staffers, is choosing the companies it works for more carefully, as reported by BuzzFeed.

The news was broken by Binna Kim, the president of a public relations company called Vested, who tweeted earlier this week: “Patagonia just told us they are no longer doing branded vests for financial services companies.”

She later posted a statement from a reseller for Patagonia’s corporate sales, which explained: “the brand is really focused right now on only co-branding with a small collection of like-minded and brand aligned areas: outdoor sports that are relevant to the gear we design, regenerative organic farming, and environmental activism.”

A spokesperson for Patagonia clarified that its corporate sales partnerships will now prioritise “mission-driven companies that prioritise the planet,” reports Business Insider.

The move is part of a wider, more noticeably political strategy adopted of late by Patagonia, which unveiled the mission statement “We’re in business to save our home planet” last year and has commented publicly on myriad environmental and governmental issues in recent months. – Relaxnews
