KUCHING: Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian has advised Covid-19 patients to seek treatment early.
He noted with concern that two of the six deaths reported on Monday (Apr 26) were brought in dead (BID), having not sought treatment early.
“No matter how mild your symptoms, time is of the essence, seek treatment early,” he said in a Facebook post on Monday.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) advisor said most of those who died of Covid-19 had what so many Sarawakians had, namely obesity and non-communicable diseases such as high blood pressure, diabetes and high cholesterol.
He said no one was too young or too old for Covid-19, pointing out that the deaths reported on Monday included cases in the age range of 30’s to 70’s.
“Recent positive cases in Sarawak are around the 20 to 40 year-old group — working, highly mobile, often extensive networking,” he said.
Dr Sim said panic and politicking would not help the situation. What were needed were solidarity, cooperation, sacrifice, understanding, compassion and mutual assistance.
“Playing our role and doing our part will get us through this darkness and help us (to) see the light at the end of the tunnel soon,” he said.
