KUCHING: Environmental management at the federal and state levels was among issues discussed during a recent courtesy call by Deputy Minister for Energy and Environmental Sustainability Dr Hazland Abang Hipni on Deputy Minister of Environment and Water Datuk Mansor Othman.
Dr Hazland paid the courtesy call on Mansor at Putrajaya on Tuesday (Aug 30) to look into strategic cooperation between the two ministries.
According to a statement issued by his ministry, the discussion included various initiatives and information regarding environmental management in Sarawak, namely climate change, economic cycles, carbon markets, and renewable energy, hydro power and renewable energy such as hydrogen and solar.
Present during the courtesy call was KASA Environmental Management Division secretary Jamalulail Abu Bakar and officials from Natural Resources and Environment Board (NREB) Sarawak.
Dr Hazland and members of his delegation were then taken to the Environmental Data Centre (EDC) which is located at the Department of Environment (JAS), Wisma Sumber Asli.
Later he was briefed by the officials at JAS on operation and supervision of air, river, marine, wafer and land.
Also present were JAS Division of Water and Marine director Rosli Mustafa and Air Division officer Wan Aminordin Wan Kamaruddin.
