It is all systems go for the one-day Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu northern region mini convention themed “Sarawak Right Prioritised, Development Empowered” at the Meritz Hotel in Miri tomorrow.

Deputy Chief Minister and Deputy PBB president Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan today visited the venue for the event to ensure that everything would go on as planned.

Awang Tengah, who is also the organising chairman of the convention, spent nearly two hours making the final inspection.

Accompanying him was the convention secretariat chairman and Sarawak Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker, Datuk Gerawat Gala.

Also present were Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Law, State-Federal Relations and Project Monitoring) Datuk Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali and Lambir assemblyman Ripin Lamat.

Awang Tengah also spent time to watch rehearsals by some of the delegates who would be taking part in several performances at the opening of the convention today.

Chief Minister who is also PBB president Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg will officiate at the opening at 3pm.

Nearly 900 delegates have arrived and registered for the convention since early morning.

Met after he finished his final round of inspection, Awang Tengah said he was satisfied with the overall preparations.

“Today’s rehearsal and final preparations went smoothly despite requiring some minor adjustments,” he added.

Awang Tengah also reiterated the need for all delegates   to strictly adhere to the Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs).

On the theme of the convention, he said it captured the essence of PBB’s and Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s  mission of fighting for Sarawak’s rights as provided in MA63  and making Sarawak a developed state by 2030.
