PUSA: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) is out to retain the Beting Maro seat in the forthcoming state election and garner a bigger majority in votes.
In stating this, PBB Beting Maro information chief Ramzi Rasit said, “The results of the 11th State Election (PRN11) are enough to show that PBB is getting stronger.
“In PRN10, PBB Beting Maro candidate Razaili Gapor received 3,069 votes. These were later increased by 1,689 during PRN11 resulting in a total of 4,758 votes which put him in a comfortable position.
“In politics, we count the numbers, the people’s votes.
“We (PBB) are talking based on facts, not fiction. Therefore, I wonder how PAS made the claim that many PBB members had dropped out of the party and had filled out forms to join PAS?
“In my opinion, that is a story that was deliberately made up because the results of the last PRN were quite clear. As soon as Razaili won PRN11 with an increase in the majority, many PAS followers left and expressed support for the PBB,” he said on Sunday (Aug 16).
Ramzi added that PBB Beting Maro was used to battling against PAS which had never won.
“For me, PAS should accept the fact that it is not for the people of Beting Maro.”
Ramzi slammed the statement of PAS Batang Lupar election director Hipni Bakeri who claimed that Beting Maro voters were increasingly confident in the Sarawak PAS leadership.
“That is a baseless allegation to get cheap publicity.
“I am confident that Razaili’s performance for two terms and the leadership of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) under Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg have really opened the minds of the people.
“Insya-Allah, whoever our opponents may be, we are not afraid. PBB will continue to be a stronghold in Beting Maro,” he added.
