LIMBANG: Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) president Tan Sri Dr James Jemut Masing has assured that full support will be given to Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) in the coming state election.
This assurance was given to Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Gumbang from PBB.
According to him, PBB is like a sibling to PRS who are in one ship — Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) — and fighting the same fight.
“Although it is not PRS that will compete later, I want us (PRS) to give full support to PBB.
“What is important is that GPS’ victory can be ensured so that the agenda to develop Sarawak will continue to be implemented,” he said during a meeting at the ‘Leaders and The People Session’ at Tan Penghulu House, Rantau Kiran Medamit here yesterday.
Also present were Paulus, Limbang MP Hasbi Habibollah, Samalaju assemblyman Majang Renggi, PRS Batu Danau chairman David Upe, representatives from various government agencies, community leaders and other dignitaries.
Masing further explained that local communities, especially the Iban community, should continue to support the GPS government to defend the rights of Sarawakians.
He said only Sarawakian parties could defend the rights of Sarawak from eroding.
“I can guarantee that if a Malayan party holds Sarawak’s state of affairs, our rights will be violated.
“The GPS government has become a fortress to defend the rights of Sarawakians,” he said.
He added that more developments will be carried out in the Medamit area through several development programmes undertaken by the Sarawak government in the near future.
He also donated RM15,000 to the village security and development committee (JKKK) for women and RM25,000 for the men’s.
