KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) has shown its maturity as a political party through its preparations for the next generation of leadership. Party president Datuk Amar Abang Haji Johari Tun Openg (pic) said he and Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas were the second generation leaders in PBB and both of them had been the party’s youth chief before.
“We have been trained since we are still in the Youth’s wing and when both of us assumed our respect ive positions as the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister, it shows that the training we received back then had become a reality, and this also shows the maturity in PBB,” he said when attending to the thanksgiving and ‘tahlil’ ceremony for Samariang constituency held at Dewan Hikmah, Petra Jaya, last Friday.
Johari said the power transition in PBB was something special as party leaders were trained from the ground level to the highest level. “So when we are given the trust with our positions, we have to know what our political vision is and also how to implement it. This includes how the party and at the state to be governed,” he said.
Also present were the Chief Minister’s Johari wife’s Datin Amar Datuk Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang, Assistant Minister for Ear ly Chi ldhood Educat ion and Family Development Hajah Sharifah Hasidah Sayeed Aman Ghazali, Assistant Minister for Hous ing Datuk Haj i Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah and PBB Samariang deputy chief Da tuk S e r i Ab ang Kha l i d Marzuki.
