KUCHING: The reappointment of 10 MPs from Sarawak in the new federal Cabinet line-up proves that Sarawak continues to have a significant role within the administration.

In welcoming the announcement of the new federal Cabinet, Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth chief Gerald Rentap Jabu conveyed his appreciation to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob for the trust given upon the Sarawak MPs.

The 10 MPs from Sarawak are Senior Works Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof; Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar; Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri; and Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi.

There are also Datuk Hanifah Hajar Taib (Prime Minister’s Department —— Sabah and Sarawak Affairs), Datuk Henry Sum Agong (Deputy Minister of Transport), Datuk Ali Biju (Deputy Minister of Energy and Natural Resources), Datuk Aaron Ago Dagang (Deputy Minister of Health II), Datuk Hasbi Habibollah (Deputy Minister of Rural Development II) and Datuk Willie Mongin (Deputy Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities II)

The Layar assemblyman then said PBB Youth believed that the new federal Cabinet line-up will further strengthen the country’s administration which focuses on ensuring political stability, tackling the Covid-19 pandemic and reviving the country’s economy for the wellbeing of the people.

“We are confident that those who have been appointed are able to shoulder the trust and responsibility in facing the challenges of the pandemic as well as the political and economic scenarios that are increasingly challenging.”

The main focus now, he said, is to address the people’s problems caused by the pandemic.

“We also believe that with the ‘Malaysian Family’ approach and through cross-party cooperation, a common victory in tackling the health crisis due to the pandemic will be achieved,” he said.
