KUCHING: Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) Youth chief Gerald Rentap Jabu is now under 14-day self-quarantine at home after he attended a meeting with a recently diagnosed Covid-19 positive person.
He said he was among those who attended the meeting with Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan on March 27, and one of the attendees was tested positive for Covid-19 a few days later.
“Those who attended the Food Supply committee meeting are directed to undergo the 14 days home quarantine for precautionary measure,” he told New Sarawak Tribune yesterday.
Gerald, who is also Layar assemblyman, said he will be quarantined until April 10.
“So far, I am ok and will be working from home,” he said.
Awang Tengah, as well as Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah; Local Government and Housing Minister Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian; Utilities Minister Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom and State Legislative Assembly deputy speaker Datuk Gerawat Gala had attended the same meeting and are now under self-quarantine.
On Saturday, Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah confirmed that Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang has tested positive for Covid-19.
Meanwhile, Transport Assistant Minister Datuk Dr Jerip Susil has also been tested positive for Covid-19 last Thursday and is now undergoing treatment at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).
Bau district police chief DSP Poge Nyaon who attended a meeting with Dr Jerip recently has also been tested positive.
Other MPs who have been tested positive for the virus are Sarikei MP Andrew Wong who is still undergoing treatment, and Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii who has recovered and been discharged.
