PBB’s final convention expects 3,000 delegates

SIBU: Nearly 3,000 delegates from the Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) will converge at the party’s Sibu Zone Special Convention at the Kingwood Hotel tomorrow (Sunday).

The delegates from the 23 branches of the Sibu Zone, including Kuala Rajang, Semop, Daro, Jemoreng, Repok, Tanjong Manis, Pakan, Meluan, Ngemah, Machan, Bukit Assek, Dudong, Bawang Assan, Pelawan, Nangka, Dalat, Telian, Balingian, Tamin, Kapit, Katibas, Bukit Goram, and Baleh, will be in attendance.

This convention is the finale of this year’s series, following those for the Kuching Zone on September 23, the Betong Zone on October 8, and the Bintulu Zone on October 15.

The PBB president and Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to officiate at the Sibu Zone Special Convention at 12 pm.

The one-day convention is scheduled to begin at 7.30 am with the registration of delegates.

Subsequently, at 8.15 am, the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 will be presented by the Sarawak State Deputy Secretary (Economic Planning and Development) Datuk Dr. Muhammad Abdullah Zaidel.

Following this, the PBB vice-president and deputy chairman of the main committee for the Sibu Zone Special Convention, Datuk Dr. Annuar Rapaee, will table the resolutions. Discussions and debates on these resolutions will ensue.

In the afternoon, Dr. Annuar will elaborate on the party’s resolutions. The programme will continue with an opening speech by the PBB secretary-general Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, who also serves as the chairman of the main committee for the Sibu Zone Special Convention.

Abang Johari is also scheduled to address the delegates.

Themed ‘PBB Teras Kestabilan, Kemajuan dan Kemakmuran Sarawak’ (PBB as the Core of Stability, Progress, and Prosperity in Sarawak), the convention aims to inform members about the new policy and the PCDS 2030 introduced by the Sarawak government.
