MUKAH: The Pan Borneo Highway (PBH) project has been classified by the State Public Works Department (JKR) as amongst the on-going major or high impact projects.

“Apart from PBH, others are the implementation of Rural Transportation Project (RTP), Chief Minister’s Walkabout projects, Coastal Highways and Second Trunk Road,” said state JKR director Datuk Ir Zuraimi Sabki when officiating at an JKR Central Zone Appreciation Night at Kingwood Hotel here on Wednesday.

He added that the technical advisory services of the consultants/experts from state JKR are very much needed in this aspect.

Hence, he urged the department’s staffers statewide to always be on guard and be more prepared for more challenging tasks.

“This is so because the Sarawak civil service is now ushering in a global era. We have to be prepared to face the challenges in the global era. Be ready for the so-called paradigm shift and eventually to provide more excellent services,” he said.

Zuraimi also reiterated that the department’s staffers should possess team spirit, integrity, be innovative and professional.

“Besides, you need to be aware of the importance of the sense of belonging or ownership on the tasks assigned and safety at the workplace like construction site and other related matters. In fact we have been practising these values all this while,” he said.

The event was held in conjunction with Majlis Bersama Jabatan (MBJ) meeting held here.

On the event, Zuraimi who is also MBJ chairman said that it was meant to celebrate with receipients of the Excellence Service Awards (APC) for last year and an appreciation for those who are retiring.

“However, we should not regard the recognition as the end of our effort to achieve a more excellent future. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the retired and those about to retire for their priceless contributions to the department and community at large,” he said.
